About Surah Al-Ma'arij
Surah Al-Ma'arij (المعارج) is the seventieth chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “The Ascending Stairways.” It is a Makki Surah consisting of 44 ayahs and is contained in the twenty-ninth Juz of the Quran.
Surah Al-Ma'arij discusses the Day of Judgment, human impatience, and the qualities of people who develop spiritual discipline.
The Surah describes a day whose scale is beyond ordinary human experience and shows that worldly relationships and possessions cannot remove accountability.
It observes that human beings can become anxious in hardship and selfish when given ease unless faith and worship shape their character.
The Surah then describes people who are constant in prayer, recognize a right for the needy in their wealth, believe in judgment, protect their morality, and keep their trusts and promises.
These qualities show that religion is not limited to belief alone but affects habits, finances, relationships, and responsibilities.
Surah Al-Ma'arij warns against arrogance and reminds people that Allah is fully capable of replacing those who reject His guidance.
