About Surah Al-Humazah
Surah Al-Humazah (الهمزة) is the one hundred and fourth chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “The Slanderer.” It is a Makki Surah consisting of 9 ayahs and is contained in the thirtieth Juz of the Quran.
Surah Al-Humazah warns against slander, mockery, backbiting, and the arrogant accumulation of wealth.
The Surah describes a person who insults others and counts wealth repeatedly as though money could provide permanent security.
It rejects the illusion that possessions can make a person immortal or beyond accountability.
The Surah then describes a crushing fire that reaches deeply into the hearts.
The punishment reflects the seriousness of using words and wealth to harm, humiliate, or dominate other people.
Surah Al-Humazah encourages believers to protect their speech, avoid contempt, and remember that wealth is a responsibility rather than a source of superiority.
