About Surah Al-Ghashiyah
Surah Al-Ghashiyah (الغاشية) is the eighty-eighth chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “The Overwhelming.” It is a Makki Surah consisting of 26 ayahs and is contained in the thirtieth Juz of the Quran.
Surah Al-Ghashiyah focuses on the overwhelming Day of Judgment and presents contrasting pictures of punishment and reward.
It describes faces that will be humbled and exhausted because their efforts were not guided toward true success.
It then describes other faces that will be joyful and satisfied, enjoying the comfort and peace of Paradise.
The Surah invites people to observe the camel, the sky, the mountains, and the earth as signs of deliberate creation.
These simple and familiar examples encourage reflection rather than abstract argument.
Surah Al-Ghashiyah reminds the Prophet ﷺ that his role is to remind, while final judgment belongs to Allah.
