About Surah Al-Fajr
Surah Al-Fajr (الفجر) is the eighty-ninth chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “The Dawn.” It is a Makki Surah consisting of 30 ayahs and is contained in the thirtieth Juz of the Quran.
Surah Al-Fajr reflects on the fate of earlier tyrants, the tests of wealth and hardship, and the final return of the peaceful soul.
The Surah refers to 'Ad, Thamud, and Pharaoh as examples of people who possessed power but spread corruption.
It corrects the assumption that receiving wealth always means honor or that limited provision automatically means humiliation.
The Surah criticizes neglect of orphans, lack of encouragement to feed the poor, consuming inheritance greedily, and excessive love of wealth.
It then presents a powerful scene of judgment when people finally recognize the value of what they failed to do.
Surah Al-Fajr concludes with the beautiful address to the tranquil soul, inviting it to return to its Lord, pleased and pleasing.
