About Surah Abasa

Surah Abasa (عبس) is the eightieth chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “He Frowned.” It is a Makki Surah consisting of 42 ayahs and is contained in the thirtieth Juz of the Quran.

Surah Abasa begins with an incident involving a sincere blind believer who came seeking guidance while attention was being given to influential people.

The passage establishes an important principle: a person's social status should not determine the value of his or her sincere search for truth.

The Surah describes the Quran as a noble reminder that can benefit anyone willing to receive guidance.

It then points to human creation, food, rain, crops, gardens, fruits, and livestock as signs of Allah's care and provision.

The final section describes the Day of Judgment, when people may flee even from their closest family members because each person is occupied with his or her own condition.

Surah Abasa encourages humility, equal respect for sincere seekers, gratitude for provision, and preparation for accountability.
