Surah Ibrahim

Surah Ibrahim (إبراهيم) is the fourteenth chapter of the Holy Quran. It is named after Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him. It is a Makki Surah consisting of 52 ayahs and is contained in the thirteenth Juz of the Quran.

Surah Ibrahim focuses on important themes of faith, gratitude, divine guidance, patience, accountability, and the Oneness of Allah. It explains that Allah sent His messengers to guide people from darkness toward light and the straight path.

The Surah reminds people of the blessings Allah has given them and encourages them to remain grateful. It teaches that gratitude is connected with receiving further blessings, while persistent rejection and ingratitude can lead to serious consequences.

Surah Ibrahim also refers to the experiences of earlier prophets and their communities. The messengers called their people toward the worship of Allah alone, while many communities rejected their message despite receiving clear guidance.

A significant part of the Surah contains the supplications of Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him. He prays for the safety of Makkah, asks Allah to protect him and his descendants from idol worship, and prays for his family and the believers.

The Surah also presents examples illustrating the difference between good and evil words. A good word is compared to a strong and healthy tree with firm roots and beneficial branches, while a bad word is compared to a tree without stability.

Surah Ibrahim reminds people about the Day of Judgment and emphasizes that worldly power, wealth, or influence will not protect anyone from accountability before Allah.

The Surah encourages believers to remain patient, establish prayer, give from what Allah has provided, and maintain strong faith in His promises.
