About Surah Az-Zumar
Surah Az-Zumar (الزمر) is the thirty-ninth chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “The Groups.” It is a Makki Surah consisting of 75 ayahs and extends across the twenty-third and twenty-fourth Juz of the Quran.
Surah Az-Zumar focuses on sincere worship, repentance, the difference between belief and disbelief, and the final return of all people to Allah.
The Surah repeatedly calls for worship to be directed to Allah alone without seeking intermediaries or associating partners with Him.
A well-known passage encourages people who have wronged themselves not to lose hope in Allah's mercy and to return to Him sincerely.
The Surah contrasts those who remember Allah and reflect on His signs with those whose hearts remain closed to guidance.
It also describes scenes from the Day of Judgment, including people being driven in groups toward their final destinations.
Surah Az-Zumar encourages humility, gratitude, sincere repentance, and preparation for the Hereafter before opportunities for change come to an end.
